Number calls and hangs up call back number disconnected

over the last month, this number has called me - yet i've been unable to answer it as the call comes through - which usually wouldnt be a problem as i call back at the earliest convenient time.
If i call them from my mobile (which is on the Optus network), I am advised that the number I have called has been disconnected. If I call them from my home phone (which is on the Telstra network), I am advised that the number i have called is incorrect, and that i should check the number before calling again. Calling back simply does not reach anyone.

As I keep receiving missed calls from this number, i decided to google it.It would appear that there have been reports of it being from a company called Applied Demographics (which I cannot find anything about online). These reports commonly suggest that under the guise of a "survey", personal information is extrapolated. Some people who had agreed to volunteer for the survey reported that a barrage of sales calls followed as a result. As I am yet to speak to anyone at this number, I am not certain how accurate these claims are, but I am mindful of them.

I have missed calls ranging from 8am to 7.30pm, and most weeks, i am called once or twice a day for about 3 to 5 days out of the week. As calling at these times for telemarketing purposes is not illegal, and I'm not on the Do Not Call list, I hadn't put much thought into it until i first tried to call them back, discovering that the number was not connected.

This feels highly suspicious to me. Is this kind of conduct even legal?

Calls from this number start of with being a lifestyle survey but will repeat calls if cut off or you say you are not interested

I've been called from this number 0399757450 once I missed the call so I tryd to call it back it said disconnected so I done a Google search and I found this site I think its the government is anyone else on a government payment the only people who can call from a disconnected number are a phone company or the government or it could be the police if we find out what we all have in common we will find out who it is and why I'm with Optus and I'm on a centerlink payment at the moment

Same as everyone else they have just started calling me on this number. BUT, who else is getting calls from other mobile numbers as well? I am getting up to 6/8 calls per day from 4 separate numbers/ I have listed on my phone as spam but c'mon this is beyond a joke....

this number has rang my mobile phone a number of times over the last few days and no one on other end and when I ring it back it says its disconnected so annonying

They always call and just hang up at least 6/8 times in 2 weeks getting so angry

I had a few missed calls from this number a few times this week and when i tried calling back it was disconnected! i just got a call from them now and a lady said "she is conducting a study in regards to the cost of living" i just hung up on her lol

Once again another annoying number, can you guys stop these idiots. I've changed from vodafone to Boost and these knobs ring me like I'm gonna give my real details.

I get daily calls from this number and if you call the number it's disconnected! A few times I have answered and been hung up on! It's a nuisance!

Literally JUST got called by this number. When I answered, they hung up. Tried calling back, disconnected.

Asked who was calling when they asked my name, didn't confirm my name when they asked and they hung up. Block the number from your mobile to end the calls

i have had this number call me 2 to 3 times but when i ring back its disconnected so i have block the number

On the 15/05/2014 I answered a call from this number: 03 9975 7450 a woman asked if I was X(my first name) then she just hung up. I rang straight back and received a message saying the number was not connected. I rang Telstra and they say it is not one of their numbers. Been checking the internet, it seems that other people are having the very same problem with calls from this number. Apart from blocking them, there must be a way of stopping these strange nuisance calls. How can someone ring from a "disconnected phone?"

I have had numerous calls from this number over he past few months. I try calling back but always says the number is disconnected. This afternoon I had 2 calls from this number which I answered. The first time a male laughed when I answered and said hello #### speaking, then he hung up on me. About 2 minutes later I was called again by the same number. When I answered the same male started speaking a load of random jiberish to me that made no sense at all. I would like to know who owns this number so I can officially complain about all the nuisance calls.
